"Give it up Randy," his sister sighed. Randy continued to fiddle with the TV controls. It was as if pressing them all could will it to come online. "There's a few blown transformers out there. Give it a rest. The power will come back on soon enough."

"What am I supposed to do then, Marlene? Ya know, to wait it out?" Randy grumbled. He plopped himself next to his older sister.

"You're not going to get my iPad," his black-haired sister scowled.

"Aw, c'mon! Please! I am BORED," Randy pleaded.

"No! After you dropped it last time and it shattered the screen?" Marlene glared at him, "And it cost me over half my savings to get it fixed? No thanks! And anyway, it's at three percent of power. You won't be able to do much with Om-Nom before it zaps out itself."

"Why do you think I am obsessed with a little green monster that eats candy? It's for kids!" He thought another moment and added, "And girls!"

"Really? Explain to me why under 'battery usage', is Cut the Rope at eighty percent of the usage? I haven't touched it in a week!" Randy didn't dare say anything in response.

Suddenly the windows rattled, startling them both.

"Hmm," Marlene looked at the apple tree in the front yard. It's branches moved with the force of the wind. One apple fell to the ground.

"What do you mean, 'hmm'?" Randy questioned.

"Remember that kite that Uncle Charlie sent us?" Randy realized what she meant and blurted, "But it's so huge!"

"That might be, but the wind might be able to lift it off this time. C'mon!"

"Nah, I'd like to stay inside, nice and warm-"

"I'll bet ten dollars that it gets off the ground."

"Now you're talking!"
